About Us

Description

The National Association of Municipal Advisors (NAMA) is a professional organization limited to firms and professionals that specialize in providing  advice on bond sales and other financial products used by state and local governments, agencies and obligated persons.  While founded in 1989 as the National Association of Independent Public Financial Advisors/NAIPFA) to solely represent independent financial advisory firms, NAMA members now include individual municipal advisors affiliated with other entities, in addition to its core members of independent municipal advisory firms.

Purpose

NAMA serves to promote and provide educational efforts to help its members navigate through the federal regulatory and municipal marketplace landscapes.  NAMA also plays an important role for its members by maintaining a constant dialogue with regulators and comments on proposals that directly affect municipal advisors, in addition to working with other key market players and associations on issues of mutual interest.

Goals

The goals of the organization are to assist members with their MA compliance and practice obligations.  Through training, conferences, publications, and other outreach efforts, NAMA develops tools for its members and facilitates discussions to advance the municipal advisor industry, and individual MA practices.
